SURVEY OF THE WHOLE BIBLE

 OT 301 & 302 / NT 301 & 302
Bible Survey 3 Credits/Units Each (Required)

Pastor Chuck Smith, A self-paced independent study through the Bible with the aid of Pastor Chuck Smith’s MP3 CDs. This is done into 4 semester classes: 

OT101 Genesis-Job 

OT102 Psalms-Malachi

NT101 Matthew-Acts

NT102 Romans-Revelation.

The class requires an average of 8-10 hours study time per week. Students are required to journal a minimum of one page of notes per lesson, which is turned in at the end of the semester for grading.  

The NT and OT summaries require the purchase of the C-2000 CD series or listen via the internet at Thru-the-Bible C-2000 Series.

CLASS SCHEDULE  

Tuesday

9am-12pm

TH303 SYSTEMATIC THEOLOGY (3 units) -- This course will immerse the student in the essential doctrines of our Christian faith. There will be much time allotted to discussion in the attempt to receive a thorough understanding of these foundations. We will cover the categories covering the authority of Scriptures, God proper, Christology, the Holy Spirit, the work of salvation, the doctrine of man, and the church. This class promises to be exciting! (Carr)

6pm-9pm

CH301 CHURCH HISTORY (3 units) -- A fascinating journey through the development of the church from the Apostolic church through today with a look at the trends for the future. The student will navigate the development of the Canon of Scripture, the battle against heresies and the various major church movements. All of this will help the student to better build their own statement of faith and to have better understanding of where divisiveness ends and standing fo the Truth begins. (Evans)

6pm-9pm

OT325 BOOK OF NEHEMIAH (3 units)-- This book is packed with practical application to our walk today. We will discover principles of prayer, leadership, discipleship, relationships, church structure, spiritual warfare and living in faith in a fallen world. Does this sound amazing? It is! We will grow in our desire for God and in our service to Him and others in this book. There will be attention given to historical setting, background and Biblical context. (Carr)

 Thursday

9am-12pm

TH355 SCIENCE AND THE BIBLE (3 units) -- This course will serve as an apologetic in the area of seeming conflicts between science and the Bible, evolution and creation. Two approaches will be used, one that gleans from Scripture text that is supportive of various scientific understanding, but told of in the Bible prior to discovery, and secondly, an approach that builds off of "The heavens are telling of the glory of God; and their expanse is declaring the work of His hands" Psalm 19:1. 6pm-9pm

NT409 THE PASTORAL EPISTLES (3 units) -- This course constitutes a verse by verse journey through the letters of 1st & 2nd Timothy and Titus. The particular emphases will be on the make-up and qualifications of church leadership and the deception to be on guard for. This class will be of particular interest to those that are called the pastorate or other leadership callings. These letters will serve as a solid outline to God's view of the character and walk of the Godly man or women in Christ. (Stout)

6pm-9pm

TH401 HERMENEUTICS (3 units) -- A hands on method for study of the Bible. The student will apply the observation, interpretation and application technique (Inductive Bible Study). There will be coverage of hermeneutic rules of interpretation, sentence diagramming, cultural and historical background studies and original language word studies using the concordance and lexicons.
