 Christian Living:

CL 165: Spiritual Warfare 

This course looks at Satan's strategies, the armor of God, Christian warfare, angels, and keys to overcoming the attacks of Satan.

CL 305: Biblical Servanthood

An in-depth look at the role of the servant as portrayed in Scripture. Discussions on the meaning of servanthood, the attributes of a servant, the challenges of servanthood, spiritual warfare in the servant's life, problems in ministry, and revival as a result of service.

CL 330: Christian Ethics

A biblical perspective on ethical choices confronting Christians today, including abortion, euthanasia, medical/genetic research, participation in war, poverty and prejudice in society, racism, social mores, homosexuality, extra and premarital sexuality, divorce, remarriage & business ethics.

CL 365: Spiritual Life

A biblical look at issues affecting our spirituality such as prayer, fasting, devotions, personal Bible study, etc.

CL 370: The Pastor's Wife

(Open to women only.) A look at the ministry of a pastor's wife. Topics covered include inner spiritual life, devotions, and personal study; the spirit-controlled life of thought, word, and deed; the crucified life, dying to self, and the cultivation of a servant's heart; the role of a support person in women's ministry; conducting an afterglow; teaching and preparing Bible studies; handling church problems; balancing home and family with ministry; marriage and child rearing in ministry; selecting and developing ministry leadership.

CL 610: The Pastoral Ministry

Prerequisites:OT101-102,NT101-102, TH340. (Open to men only.) A biblical look at the New Testament ministry of pastor/teacher for those feeling the call of God into full-time pastoral ministry and planning to pursue additional training after graduation.  Topics include the pastor's prayer life, study life, family life, spiritual gifts, elders and deacons, teaching the Word, counseling, weddings and funerals, accounting, music ministry, children's ministry and Para church ministries.

CL 620: Pastoral Care Ministry

(Permission of instructor required.) An in-depth study of the pastor's role as counselor, chaplain and shepherd, including hospital, prison, nursing home, funeral and hospice ministry.

CL 650: Symposium For Pastors 

(Open to men who feel called of God to be pastors.) A weekly roundtable discussion of the practical aspects of how to plant a church, church government, bylaws, state requirements, IRS exemptions, pitfalls to avoid, appointing elders and deacons, outreach ministries, preparing Bible studies, proper attitudes and pastoral care. Recommended for future pastors.



 History:

H 305: Church History

A survey of church history from its beginning to the present. Topics include the apostolic church, the old Catholic church, the imperial Catholic church, the church fathers, the Dark Ages, the Middle Ages, Lutheran Reformation, Calvinism and Anabaptism, the Great Awakening, and Christianity in the 19th and 20th Century.

H 320: History of Ancient Israel

This course will examine Israel's history through the patriarchal period, the Egyptian period, the wilderness experience, the conquest, the period of judges, the period of the united and divided kingdom, and the exilic and post-exilic periods.

H 335: Monarchs of Israel and Judah

A survey course of the kings of Israel and Judah beginning with King Saul and continuing through Hosea and Zedekiah. The course concludes with the fall of Judah.

H 340: Chronology of Biblical Revelation

A chronological survey of the entire Bible from creation to the New Jerusalem, examining progressive revelation of absolute truth.

H 391: Study Tour of Israel (4 cr.)

Students will participate in a trip to the Holy Land led by a CCBC instructor, attending lectures at biblically significant sites and discussing the past and future history of the region. Equal emphasis will be placed on significant regions of the Old Testament and New Testament, including those areas mentioned in end times prophecy, such as Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Mount Carmel, Armageddon, Megiddo, the Jordan Valley, Gideon Springs, Bethany, Mount Calvary, Mount Hermon, Caesarea Philippi, Jericho, and Masada.



 Ministry:

M 100: Principles of Ministry (2 cr.)

Examines the concept that "ministry takes place when divine resources meet human needs through loving channels to the glory of God." The seven churches of Revelation are studied in depth as well as the model church of I Thessalonians 1-3. The principles found in these passages are applied to ministry within and outside the church.

M 150: Preaching (Teaching Techniques) (2 cr.)

A practical course in preaching. Students will de-liver one or more messages before their peers and be critiqued by the class.

M 198: Short Term Mission Trip (4 cr.) REQ

All students at CCBC are required to participate in a short-term mission trip to another country and culture. Students perform manual labor and minister as needed. A small fee will cover transportation, insurance, etc.

M 199: Practical Christian Ministry (1 cr.) REQ

Students will provide practical support to the many areas of the Bible College and church. Opportunities include service in kitchen work, library, audio-visual, office, housekeeping, maintenance, landscaping, security, and others. Students will be assigned an area of Practical Christian Ministry before registration.

M 310: Ministering to Women and Children

(Open to women only). A practical course on how to structure a ministry to teach women and children in a church setting.

M 312: Women's Discipleship (1cr.)

(Open to women only). A course in leadership, teaching women how to disciple younger women in the faith while providing the opportunity for those who are younger in the Lord to be discipled by older women.

M 313: Men's Discipleship (1cr.)

(Open to men only). A course in leadership, teaching men how to disciple younger men in the faith while providing an opportunity for those who are younger in the Lord to be discipled by older men.

M 320: Introduction to Biblical Counseling

This course defines biblical counseling; emphasizes the importance of God's Word, the Holy Spirit, prayer and the church body in counseling; discusses who is equipped to counsel; and looks at foundational truths for the counseling situation.

M 330: Homiletics

A course in expository preaching. Students will study Bible teaching throughout the history of Christianity and will explore definition, design, discipline, delivery, and dependency in Bible teaching and preaching.

M 350: Evangelism

The purpose of this course is to help students gain confidence in sharing the Gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.  This will be accomplished in two phases:  first will be instruction on how to share 1:1 and street evangelism; the second phase will be techniques on proclaiming the Gospel from the pulpit.

M 355: Missions

This course explores the history of missions, the mission, the work in the mission field, the life of the missionary, and knowing the call to missions.

M 356: Ambassadorship

This course is designed to provide students with a biblical and practical perspective on Christian representation both at home and abroad. A look at short-term, long-term and lifetime missions, along with lifestyle evangelism. This course is an effective way to "count the cost" before launching out into the Great Commission.

M 357: Perspective on World Missions

A look at the world Christian movement from a biblical, historical, sociological, and strategic perspective.

M 358: Urban Ministry

This course provides exposure to the needs of our broken urban communities for reconciliation to Jesus Christ and the body of Christ.

M 360: Ministering to the Hurting

This course examines the biblical basis of pain; poverty and homelessness; anxiety, fear and phobias; depression; sickness and chronic pain; child abuse; divorce; and loss, death, and bereavement.  Students will have the opportunity to minister in jails, prisons, hospitals, and convalescent homes.

M 365: Developing Body Ministry

This course looks at the components of the body of Christ, examining the position of deacon and elder and trends in the church nationwide.

M 370: Youth Ministry

An introduction to youth ministry, focusing on the youth teacher and leader; how to start a youth ministry; the youth pastor and parents; the youth pastor & the law; counseling youth; the teenager's world, & the pitfalls and rewards of this ministry.

M 375: Children's Ministry

An overview of all aspects of children's ministry for those who plan to work with children in a ministry setting. Students will learn how to accurately communicate and represent the Word of God and our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to children, newborn through 12 years old. Topics include evangelism, learning levels, discipline visuals, Scripture memorization, lesson planning, puppets, games, activities, crafts, worship, nursery operations, family camps, administration, and curriculum choices.

M 380: Ministry of Prayer

This course answers the questions, "What is prayer?" "What is the purpose of prayer?" and "How do we learn to pray?" The first hour of the course is spent discussing prayer, and the second half is spent in prayer.

M 390: Worship and Outreach

An observation of worship practices from Genesis to Revelation and from the birth of the church to today. Studies include the priority, power, problems and preparation of worship.

M 620: Advanced Biblical Counseling

Prerequisite: M320. An advanced counseling course for those who already have a thorough foundation in the Word of God, an understanding of counseling techniques and some level of counseling experience. Topics include communication skills; suicide prevention; psychosis; demon possession; childhood disorders; counseling conditions that require medical attention such as depression, aging, dementia, and Alzheimer's disease, as well as drug and alcohol addiction.

NT 101: New Testament Survey I (3 cr.) REQ

A verse-by-verse survey of the New Testament from Matthew 1 through Acts 28. This is a self-paced, directed independent study course taken through audiotapes of Pastor Chuck Smith's teaching through the 5000 series.

NT 102: New Testament Survey II (3 cr.) REQ

Prerequisite: NT101. A verse-by-verse survey of the New Testament from Romans 1 through Revelation 22, this is a self-paced, independent study course taken through audiotapes of Pastor Chuck Smith's teaching through the 5000 series.

NT 110: Gospel of Mark

A verse-by-verse study of the gospel of Mark, emphasizing the servanthood of Jesus Christ.

NT 115: Gospel of Luke

A verse-by-verse study of the gospel of Luke, emphasizing the humanity of Jesus Christ.

NT 120: I Corinthians

A verse-by-verse study of 1 Corinthians, looking at the body of Jesus Christ, the church. This course examines the author's purpose in writing; the Holy Spirit and His work in the Church and in the lives of believers; and the application of God's Word to the life of the student.

NT 121: II Corinthians

A verse-by-verse study of 2 Corinthians, looking at the imminent return of Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior and how our lives should be lived in accordance with the knowledge that His return will be soon. This course emphasizes the importance of having a working knowledge of this portion of God's Word, understanding and recognizing the signs of Christ's return, and developing the ability to share Christ anywhere and everywhere with a lost and dying world.

NT 130: Pastoral Epistles (3 cr.) REQ

A verse-by-verse study of 1 and 2 Timothy, Titus, and Philemon. These epistles were written to equip those who feel called to the pastorate.

NT 138: James and Jude

A verse-by-verse study of James and Jude.

NT 139: James

A verse-by-verse study of James, discussing temptation, favoritism, the tongue, pride and humility, turning a sinner, the prayer of faith, being doers and not only hearers of the Word, faith and works, wisdom, judging others, and worldly riches.

NT 140: James; I, II, III John; Jude

A verse-by-verse study of James; I, II, III John; and Jude. Specific discussion on the control of the tongue, trials, and evidence of salvation.

NT 141: I, II, III John

A verse-by-verse study of I, II, III John. Topics include the purpose of John's letter; light, fellow-ship and sin; the antichrist; stages of Christian growth; love; assurance of salvation; and more.

NT 150: Galatians

A verse-by-verse study of the gospel of John. Students will study the theology of this book along with an in-depth look at the person and work of Jesus Christ.

NT 330: Acts (3 cr.) REQ

A verse by verse study of Acts, looking at the church, the work of the Holy Spirit, and how He - through the church - has changed the world.

NT 340: Romans (3 cr.) REQ

A verse-by-verse study of Romans, including an in-depth study of the doctrines of grace, forgiveness, and salvation.

NT 350: Ephesians and Galatians (3 cr.) REQ

A verse-by-verse study of Ephesians and Galatians, examining how an individual believer may enter into the possession of God's spiritual riches.

NT 360: Hebrews (3 cr.) REQ

A verse-by-verse study of Hebrews, showing how we as believers may live in deep fellowship with God continually.

NT 370: I John

An expositional examination of the book of I John, studying verse by verse in an inductive manner (to bring out what the text itself says) and in an analytical manner (examining the various details of the letter such as words, phrases, theological concepts, etc.). Students will use a literal-grammatical-historical hermeneutic, considering the historical setting, audience, context, and overall message of the book.

NT 380: Revelation (3 cr.) REQ

This is a verse-by-verse study of Revelation, which examines the pre-millennial, pre-tribulation rapture eschatology.

An inductive study of the book of Exodus, covering the bondage of God's people, the deliverance of God's people, the relationship God develops with His people, and the divine plan and purpose for Israel in history.

A survey of the Psalms discussing the various types of psalms such as individual and national laments, thanksgiving psalms, descriptive psalms, songs of ascent, royal psalms, psalms of enthronement and wisdom psalms.

OT 330: Isaiah (3 cr.) REQ

An expositional examination of the book of Isaiah, studying the book verse by verse in a literal grammatical historical format, considering the historical setting, the audience, the context, and the overall message. Students will begin to recognize and comprehend the Messianic passages within the book of Isaiah and more fully understand and love the Lord our God.

OT 340: Daniel (3 cr.) REQ

A verse-by-verse study of Daniel, providing an in-depth look at pre-millennial, pre-tribulation rapture eschatology in the light of current events.

OT 350: I Samuel

A verse-by-verse study of I Samuel, exploring the lives of Samuel, Saul, and David, with an emphasis on personal application.

OT 355: II Samuel

A verse by verse study of II Samuel, exploring the lives of King David and his family with an emphasis on the application to our own personal lives and the church today.

OT 359: Ezra and Nehemiah

A verse-by-verse study of Ezra and Nehemiah.

OT 360: Nehemiah

A look at the victorious Christian life of Nehemiah, teaching students how to build Christian character in the midst of battles.

TH 130-133: Lectures in Ministry/Theology  (1 cr. each) REQ

A series of lectures presented weekly by various guest speakers.

TH 300: Doctrines of the Church

A biblical look at the offices of deacon, elder, and pastor, along with an examination of church government and policy.

TH 310: Evolution, Creation, Modern Science, and the Bible

A study of the scientific evidence that proves the Bible is true and evolution is false; scientific evidence for biblical creationism; and recent scientific discoveries predicted in the Word of God.

TH 320: Apologetics

A study involving intellectual proof for the existence of God, the reliability of the Bible, the historical accuracy of the resurrection, and other fundamental doctrines of Christian faith.

TH 321: Contending for the Faith

Examine the numerous unbiblical movements within the Christian church (as distinct from those cults and false religions that are outside the church). Students will be reminded of the importance of having beliefs that are in line with Scripture and warned that there have always been and always will be those in the church who teach contrary to God's Word. Students will be urged and equipped to engage in the battle to establish, protect, and proclaim a biblical Christianity.

TH 330: Cults

A comparison of the teachings of biblical Christianity with major non-Christian cults such as Mormonism, Jehovah's Witnesses, and New Age.

TH 340: Holy Spirit and His Gifts

A biblical look at the work and ministry of the Holy Spirit in the world, in the church, and in Christians, including baptism in the Holy Spirit, the gifts of the Spirit, and the fruit of the Spirit.

TH 360: Biblical Theology

An outline of biblical theology, the study of the God of the Bible.

TH 365: Bibliology and Hermeneutics

A careful study in the doctrines of origin and nature of the Bible. This course also introduces the student to correct principles of biblical interpretation.

TH 380:  Prophecy, Eschatology and Current Events

A study of the end times related to current events indicating that the coming of the Lord Jesus Christ is soon.  An overview of biblical eschatology with an in-depth look at some of the major prophetic themes detailed in Scripture.

TH 390: Inductive Bible Study (2 cr.) REQ

This is a course on how to study the Bible without the aid of commentaries.
